First off, I haven't yet finished my blog from my prior trip. I got into bed tonight and had thoughts running through my head and wanted to get them out before the burning desire to share them diminished.
My trip next quarter is a bit absurd. It's just nuts. I'm going to be traveling from the poorest of the poor in the WHOLE WORLD to one of America's most popular vacation destinations, and everywhere in between.
AFRICA: Bissau, Guinea Bissau - one of the top 5 poorest in the world
Banjul, Gambia - next to Guinea Bissau but, my understanding is that this
country is much better off.
SOUTH AMERICA: Brasilia, Brazil - a very structured city and actually the capital
Brazil.
CENTRAL AMERICA: Port Au Prince, Haiti
CARIBBEAN: St. Thomas, USVI - vacationland
As much as I can worry fairly often about all sorts of forms of safety when traveling, I realize how blessed I am to have such an amazing job and lifestyle that allows me to soak in such unbelievable knowledge and experience. Can't wait to update everyone on this trip! PS I will be traveling in both African locations and in Brazil with a 2nd co-worker - and will be traveling over to Brazil with a 3rd.
Sadly, I will be missing an important event (wedding of a childhood friend) due to the nature of the job. We are told (for these really large surveys) when we must leave the country by, and this is certainly the earliest I have ever left.
